Selena Gomez Gives SAG Award Win Credit to Steve Martin & Martin Short

Selena Gomez is giving the glory of the Only Murders in the Building cast’s 2025 Screen Actors Guild award to costars Steve Martin and Martin Short.

The day after their murder-mystery Hulu series took home outstanding performance by an ensemble at this year’s SAG honors Sunday (Feb. 23), the singer-actress shared a couple older photos with her two leading costars — who were not present at the ceremony– and gave credit where credit is due. “After 4 seasons we got our first award as a cast!!!” she wrote on Instagram.

“Steve, Marty you deserve this more than I do,” Gomez continued. “You guys have shaped the character I play on our show.”

Only Murders‘ victory over the weekend followed three straight years of the comedy losing the same prize to Ted Lasso, Abbott Elementary and The Bear, respectively. The Rare Beauty founder was visibly shocked when her show’s name was called Sunday, declaring excitedly while accepting the award on stage, “We never win!”

“Marty and Steve aren’t here because they don’t really care,” she then joked. “Thank you to Marty and Steve for helping to raise me. I genuinely am just so grateful. I take it home for all of us; bringing this back to New York for Season 5.”

Also sharing photos of herself with Molly Shannon, Richard Kind and more of her Only Murders castmates, who accepted the award with her at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Gomez added in her post, “Last night was one I will never ever forget … Thank you @hulu and @sagawards for this unreal moment that I will cherish with my only murders family!”

In addition to the ensemble prize, Only Murders also saw Short win outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series. Gomez was duly recognized in the best performance by a cast in a motion picture category for her work in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez, and though the award went to the Conclave team instead, Emilia‘s Zoe Saldana took home best supporting actress.
